Irkutsk is one of the most populated city of central Siberia.
The photo below show the Angara river. It’s the unique emissary (outlet to carry off the water of the lake) of the Baikal Lake. The rivers longer than 1500 km will first go to the North to Bratsk and then to the west to reach the Yenisey river.
Even in winter it’s possible to run. It’s pleasant to it along the river. With the view of the Krugozor Ferris Wheel .
Baikal Lake
1h by car in the south of Irkutsk following the angara river we reach the Baikal Lake. The Baikal Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the world. It’s also the world deepest lake with a maximum depth of 1642m. It’s frozen between January and May.. the picture below were taken at the end of December when it was not yet frozen.
